Non-Esterified Fatty Acids (NEFA) can be used for evaluating the metabolic status of people with endocrinopathies. It can be used for the detection of Pheochromocytoma and of glucagon, thyrotropin and andrenocorticotropin secreting tumours. It is also occassionally used for monitoring of control of diabetes mellitus.
