In Toxicology and Forensic studies, Ethanol assay is the most frequent assay required. The levels of Ethanol are also used in the diagnosis of Intoxication and ethanol poisoning. Ethyl alcohol in the presence of NAD and Alcohol dehydrogenase produce acetaldehyde and NADH. The formation of NADH is proportional to the concentration of ethanol in the sample.
