The Biorex Diagnostics IgM assay is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of human IgM in human serum and plasma. IgM is important in early response to infections. The measurement of IgM is important for typing myelomas and immunodeficiencies. IgM plays an important role in the humoral defence of the body. Serum Levels may be increased in all kinds of acute infections. Elevated levels in cord serum suggest clinical infection in the new born.
