The Biorex Diagnostics Bile Acids reagent test is intended for quantitative determination of Bile Acids in Serum/Plasma.

Total bile acids are metabolized in the liver and serve as a marker for normal liver function. Measurement of serum bile acid concentrations provides a very sensitive and specific index of hepatobiliary function. Serum total bile acid levels are elevated in patients with acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, liver sclerosis and liver cancer.
