Anti-K is the next most common immune red cell antibody after those in the ABO and Rh system, and was first reported in 1946. Anti-K reagent is intended to be used to determine the presence or absence of the Kell antigen on the red cells of blood donors, patients requiring a blood transfusion and it has been implicated in haemolytic transfusion reactions and haemolytic disease of the new-born.

Biorex Diagnostics manufacture Anti-k monoclonal and cellano reagents, consisting of monoclonal IgM and IgG antibodies respectively. The reagents require no further dilution or addition for recommended techniques.
