The Biorex Diagnostics Vitamin-D kit is intended for the quantitative determination of Vitamin-D by microplate chemiluminescence assay.

Vitamin D is stored in adipose tissue and is bound to the vitamin D binding protein. The biologically active Vitamin D is 25-hydroxy Vitamin D. The conversion of vitamin D to the active moiety takes place in the kidneys under the influence of the parathyroid hormone. Serum concentration of 25-hydroxy vitamin D is the most reliable measurement of the status of vitamin D in an individual.
