Measurement of Light chains immunoglobulin types help in the diagnosis of Multiple myeloma, Waldenstroms macroglobulinemia and lymphocytic neoplasms. Various connective tissue disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus have increased production of light chain types. The Kappa: Lambda ratio is normally around 2:1.
